Art Exibition in Argentina 2024

Argentine informalism reached an important development in the city of La Plata through the work of the "Grupo Sí", which had a short duration and a variable formation. It was made up of, among others, Alejandro Puente, César Paternosto, Nelson Blanco, Carlos Pacheco, Omar Gancedo, Dalmiro Sirabo, Horacio Elena, César Ambrosini, Horacio Ramirez, Juan Antonio Sitro, Eduardo Painceira, Saúl Larralde, Roberto Rivas and Mario Stafforini, Antonio Trotta, many of whom later continued their individual careers.

The group originated between the Salón Estímulo of the Province of Buenos Aires, the Bar Capitol (where the artists met to discuss current art) and the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, which at that time occupied the basement of the San Martín Cinema. But the definitive accolade came from the hand of Rafael Squirru, the new director of the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, who was also responsible for its name.

Although each of its members had a particularity in poetry, the group's aesthetics were characterized by the presence of a large load of material and a taste for textures, although gestural, stains and graphics also appeared in their works. The group lasted only one year, so it was very difficult to find a set of works like the ones presented here.
